It’s still Death Stranding, though, so if you didn’t riff with the game when you first played it, or still have no idea what’s going on, the Director’s Cut is unlikely to change your opinion when it releases on September 24, 2021. You’ll have new equipment and means of transport to help you take the strain off Sam Bridge’s aching back, as well as new activities to take part in – a new racing mode is included that probably no one saw coming, and there’s also a Metal Gear Solid VR Missions-esque mode that looks pretty promising. The PS4 release, now updated for PS5, includes a number of pleasing updates like a 60fps performance mode, 4K visuals and some completely unexpected additions.ĭelivering your cargo – which is still weirdly the core mechanic of Hideo Kojima’s latest creation – should be a lot more seamless and streamlined in Death Stranding: Director’s Cut. The Saints Row coverage at Opening Night Live was almost wholly focused on the CG reveal trailer, but Volition had also prepared a short gameplay snippet of what we can expect when it launches on February 25, 2022.ĭeath Stranding: Director’s Cut was shown in detail at the end of Gamescom Opening Night Live. Doing away with the shark jumping insanity found in the series’ latter games, this rebooted Saints Row looks like it maintains the silliness that made it so special, while being grounded in a way that’s more true to the original two games. Saints Row is returning to (hopefully) shake up the open-world subgenre once more. We received release dates for games coming out around the November/December time period including Halo Infinite, as well as slew of titles slated for early next year. Host Geoff Keighley put a big emphasis on "holiday" releases, and he wasn't wrong. TechRadar's take: Opening Night Live did a great job of introducing us to a slew of new trailers for some of the most anticipated games coming soon, as well as some surprise announcements we're very much looking forward to. But if you missed all the gaming goodness from Cologne, Germany (delivered virtually, of course), you can catch up with the biggest announcements below. Weird.Īpart from that, though, Gamescom Opening Night Live exceeded our expectations. Elden Ring is a multiplatform game for starters, and hasn’t even been released yet. It’s a nice addition to what is possibly the best dance game out at the moment and there is no need to panic the rest of the offline abilities are all still there. In fact, the only criticism we’d have were the weird Gamescom awards that were sprinkled through the show, which saw Elden Ring snag the prize as the ‘Best Sony PlayStation Game’. You can also start your own crew which can have up to 8 people and while I lost track here of what exactly the crew was for, remember the professional dancer was still going, but it appears that you challenge other crews in dance offs and get ranked.Īnd then if you think your dance is awesome you can upload your video to the servers so everyone else can watch you do your thang. The demo was quite impressive with a skype video setup so we could watch the French studio team dance against the professional dancers at Gamescom and it all seemed to work perfectly. You then get ranked across the world against everyone in real time so you really can say you are the best Just Dance player on the planet if you hit number 1.Īfter the song you are either given the chance to vote on which song next, out of two, or you seem to be able to choose a theme for the next song. You can’t choose what song you want to dance to but rather there is a set playlist that the entire world is dancing to simultaneously. So with this in mind Ubisoft has introduced a brand new online functionality where you can literally join the exact song the rest of the world is currently dancing to in real time. But there has always been the issues with Just Dance that it simply isn’t fun to play by yourself and there is only so much bopping that I can do. My girls adore the game and have spent many an hour dancing it out in front of the TV. Now believe it or not I’m actually a huge fan of the Just Dance series and while it hasn’t done anything to make me stop looking like an epileptic whale on the dance floor it is easily one of the most entertaining games to play with the family. No, in fact there are some great party games that were shown at Gamescom 2013 as well and my personal favourite was Just Dance 2014 from Ubisoft. Gaming is not only about overly sized men killing each other in testosterone fuelled battle.
